Redcliffe
Inspired by real events, Redcliffe follows William Critchard, a man from humble beginnings in 18th-century Redcliffe, Bristol, who falls in love with Richard Arnold, a sailor visiting the town. As suspicion grows and prejudice threatens to separate them, the two men must decide how much they are willing to risk for the freedom to live and love openly. The musical's first full production played a sold-out run at Southwark Playhouse Borough in 2026 before its transfer to the Criterion Theatre.
Jordan Luke Gage, who wrote the book, music and lyrics, returns as William. He originated Romeo in & Juliet and Clyde Barrow in Bonnie & Clyde in the West End, and won Best Composer, Lyricist or Book Writer at The Stage Debut Awards 2026 for Redcliffe. Paul Foster directs, with choreography by Emma Woods, and further casting is to be announced. A moving true story of love and danger, told through an original score.
